About the Service:

Cardiff Family Advice and Support is an award-winning service within Cardiff Council's Children's Services, proudly holding the Families First Quality Award. The service provides high-quality information, advice, assistance, and early intervention support to children, young people, families, and professionals across the city. Using a strengths-based, family-centred approach, the team works collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure families receive timely and appropriate support that promotes positive outcomes and prevents the need for more intensive statutory intervention.

What you will do:

  • Complete assessments to identify the needs and wellbeing of children and young people, particularly those with disabilities or additional needs.
  • Deliver targeted, strengths-based short-term interventions that support children and families in achieving positive outcomes.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to families regarding disability services, available resources, and appropriate support pathways.
  • Work collaboratively with education, health, social care, and partner agencies to coordinate effective support for children and their families.
  • Empower families by helping them identify and build upon their existing strengths, promoting resilience and independence.
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation in accordance with organisational policies, statutory requirements, and professional standards.
  • Contribute to safeguarding children by identifying concerns and taking appropriate action in line with legislation and local procedures.

Requirements:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification or relevant professional qualification.
  • Current registration with Social Care Wales (or eligibility to register where applicable).
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families, particularly those with disabilities or additional needs.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
