The salary for this permanent Social Worker job is up to £40,614 per annum. Main duties:<ul>
<li>Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people, giving due consideration to their race, culture, religion and linguistic background.</li><li>To manage an agreed caseload of children and young people in compliance with casework objectives, statutory and departmental policy and procedural requirements, consistently maintaining the highest level of professional standards.</li><li>Undertake direct social work responsibilities as an allocated worker to the children and young people assigned, investigating concerns regarding a child or young person’s safety or wellbeing, make an assessment of the risk and protective factors in the family and decide on the most appropriate course of action.</li><li>To work to range of legal options to support investigation and protection and accommodation; if required give evidence in court; using contingency planning to anticipate complexity and changing circumstances.</li><li>To ensure the provision of clear written reports to child protection conferences, reviews, planning meetings and any other purpose as required, ensuring good quality casework analysis and risk assessment is evident throughout.</li><li>Work with children and young people, families, carers and communities to formulate care plans in partnership, based on their assessment of need, enabling them to clarify and express their needs and contribute to their planning.</li><li>To ensure the planning and review of statutory work with children and young people is in accordance with statutory regulation and to produce written reports and other documentation for this purpose.</li><li>Maintain an awareness of own professional limitations and knowledge gaps. To make effective use of supervision and appraisal as an opportunity to critically reflect on casework and to identify learning and development needs to continually improve upon practice; and to support continual professional development.</li><li>To establish and maintain good communication across children’s social care and with departments and agencies to facilitate the improvement and development of the service.</li><li>Ensure the wellbeing of employees and service-users by actively promoting and complying with health and safety regulations, polices and procedures.</li></ul>

The salary for this permanent Social Worker job is up to £41,799 per annum. Main duties:<ul>
<li>Complete clear, accurate and holistic professional assessments of need and risk in respect of children and families using the Department of Education and Luton’s effective support document for children in need and potential significant harm. Taking the lead role to co-ordinate the multi-agency approach to prevent and address child protection issues and children in need.</li><li>Undertake statutory duties under The Children Act 1989 and other legislation and guidance relating to children and families e.g. care proceedings, arrangements for adoption/permanency, risk assessments and investigations in relation to the protection of children. Including arrangements for obtaining and carrying out Court Orders, attending court as the Council’s representative.</li><li>Creating effective SMART plans referring to the Practice Framework, using the appropriate available resources ensuring needs are met through negotiation and consultation with professional colleagues and service users. Promote anti-discriminatory practice and the empowerment of children and families.</li><li>Build positive relationships with children and their families through promoting participation and undertaking direct work to ensure that their voices, wishes and feelings are heard.</li><li>Update and maintain high quality and accurate case files in the council’s social work database, liquid Logic, ensuring that all key information and plan are recorded within timescales and comply with General Data Protection Regulations.</li><li>Provide witness statements for Court when required, accountable to the requirements of both internal/external agencies in line with Luton Borough Council’s Policies and Procedures.</li><li>To be responsible for your Continued Professional Development (CPD) and progression through regular check-ins and supervisions. Attending training through the Social Work Academy and Research in Practice.</li></ul>

<li>Degree or equivalent in Social Work.</li><li>Current Social Work England Registration.</li><li>Experience within Children’s Services.</li><li>Full Drivers Licence and have use of a vehicle.</li></ul>
