Location: Stafford, UK (based in Burton-on-Trent) Hourly Rate: £33.30 Contract Type: Locum (Ongoing) Work Type: Full Time / Part Time

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Social Work Practitioner to join our Assessment & Staying Together Team . This is a fantastic opportunity to take a pivotal role in delivering high-quality services to children and families in Stafford , while mentoring colleagues and supporting service development.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a complex caseload , ensuring timely, high-quality interventions for children and families.
Conduct in-depth statutory assessments under Sections 17 and 47 of the Children Act 1989.
Guide and mentor social workers and students, supporting professional development and fostering a culture of reflective practice.
Support decision-making in cases involving child protection , care proceedings, and permanence planning.
Lead multi-agency collaboration to deliver holistic, child-centred care and support plans.
Prepare and present high-quality court reports and represent the local authority in legal proceedings.
Contribute to service improvement , participate in audits, and help embed best practices within the team.
Assist in onboarding new staff and help shape a supportive and positive team culture.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England .
Extensive experience in statutory children's social work, especially in assessment, safeguarding, or family support .
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989 .
Skilled in mentoring , case management , and reflective supervision.
Confident in court work, risk assessments, and decision-making under pressure.
Proactive, organised, and child-focused with excellent communication and leadership skills.
