Senior Social Worker - Adult Hospital Team

Location:&nbsp;Guildford Salary: £46,399 - £49,588 per annum Job Type: Full-time, ContractAbout the Role:We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Adult Mental Health Team in Guildford. As a Senior Social Worker in the Adult Mental Health Team, you will play a critical role in providing advanced social work practice and leadership. You will work collaboratively with service users, carers, and multi-agency professionals to deliver person-centred, recovery-focused interventions. Your work will ensure compliance with statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007), and other relevant legislation.You will lead on complex cases, support safeguarding processes, and contribute to service improvement, offering guidance and supervision to less experienced team members.Key Responsibilities:<ul>
<li>Undertake comprehensive, person-centred assessments of need, risk, and mental capacity, ensuring outcomes are tailored to individual circumstances.</li><li>Develop and review care plans that promote recovery, independence, and well-being, working in partnership with service users and their support networks.</li><li>Deliver statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983.</li><li>Facilitate access to appropriate services, including community resources and specialist mental health interventions.</li><li>Lead on high-risk and complex cases, ensuring timely and effective interventions.</li><li>Act as the Investigating Officer in safeguarding adult cases, coordinating multi-agency responses and managing associated risks.</li><li>Provide expert advice and decision-making support to colleagues and partner agencies.</li><li>Prepare high-quality reports for legal proceedings, tribunals, and multi-agency case reviews.</li><li>Provide professional supervision and mentoring to less experienced social workers and other team members.</li><li>Support the induction of newly qualified social workers and students, acting as a Practice Educator where appropriate.</li><li>Promote reflective practice and professional development within the team, contributing to a learning culture</li><li>Work closely with health, housing, voluntary sector, and other professionals to deliver coordinated care.</li><li>Represent the Adult Mental Health Team at multi-agency meetings, contributing to joint decision-making and planning.</li><li>Build positive relationships with partner organisations to enhance service delivery and outcomes for service users.</li><li>Contribute to service development, identifying areas for improvement and implementing innovative practices.</li><li>Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping in line with organisational policies and professional standards.</li><li>Participate in audits, reviews, and inspections to maintain high-quality service provision.</li></ul>
Requirements of the role:<ul>
<li>A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., BA/MA in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).</li><li>Registration with Social Work England.</li><li>Substantial post-qualification experience in adult mental health services, including complex case management.</li><li>In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.</li><li>Experience in safeguarding adults and managing risk in multi-agency contexts.</li><li>Advanced assessment, planning, and decision-making skills.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with service users, carers, and professionals.</li><li>Leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and support others.</li><li>Resilience and adaptability in a demanding, fast-paced environment.</li></ul>
