What you will do
- Lead, supervise, and manage a dedicated Locality Team, ensuring the effective allocation and oversight of statutory social work cases.
- Provide professional guidance, fostering reflective supervision and case direction to Social Workers and support staff.
- Quality assure assessments alongside the implementation of child protection plans, child in need plans, care planning, and court-related work.
- Ensure compliance with statutory duties and safeguarding procedures, while adhering to legislation and local authority policies to uphold the integrity of our services.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent recognised social work qualification.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development with a management or leadership qualification being a bonus.
Registration & Compliance
- Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Extensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, Care Planning Regulations, Equality Act 2010, and the Human Rights Act 1998. Proficient in relevant safeguarding frameworks and local authority procedures.
Experience
- Substantial experience post-qualification in Children's Social Care.
- Proven ability in supervising Social Workers within a local authority setting and managing complex child protection cases.
- Experience in driving performance and supporting teams through inspection and service improvement activities.
- Demonstrated leadership in running high-performing teams and delivering positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
