About the Role:

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Social Work Team Manager to lead the Children in Care Team. <li>Assessments are carried out effectively, speaking to/observing the child, and within timescales so that his/her care needs are clearly identified and recorded.</li><li>Devise and implement clear childcare plans and interventions appropriate for each child/family to address identified needs.</li><li>Manage a Child Care workload under the supervision/guidance of the Team Manager/Deputy Team Manager.</li><li>Accurate individual case records are maintained electronically and reports are provided as required.</li><li>Attend regular supervisory meetings with team manager and/or a senior member regularly to monitor progress and identify development needs.</li><li>Works closely with other agencies and services in a co-operative way, sharing information and planning care together to meet the needs of the child holistically.</li><li>Will carry out the Council’s duties in respect to the Children Act and subsequent legislation, using their professional skills to carry out child centred assessments, in line with the assessment framework and looked after children regulations, and develop, implement, monitor and review effective care plans and interventions to improve the safety, well-being and development of the child.</li><li>Develops, implements and monitors family support plans and children in care plans through regular reviews in line with statutory time scales.</li><li>Supporting colleagues in other teams when pressures of work require.</li><li>Keeping up to date with policy and legislation and developments in professional practice. The salary for this permanent Team Manager job is up to £57,861 per annum. Main duties:<ul>
<li>To develop and manage a team responsible for providing specialist assessment and intervention services throughout Luton. Make high-risk decisions concerning the safeguarding of children.</li><li>Establish the appropriate assessments required and identify the level of need for support/services and or placements for children and families.</li><li>Determine the need for care proceedings to be instigated where the risk of significant harm is so great as to warrant a Court Order.</li><li>Maintain effective systems for prioritising, allocating and monitoring workloads and ensure that suitable systems of supervision and appraisal are in place to ensure children and families needs are met in accordance with legislation, departmental policies and procedures.</li><li>Ensure the provision of an effective service to local people by maintaining high standards of professional practice and adopting a positive approach to the full involvement of service users and carers in assessment and care planning processes, at all times encouraging independence and choice.</li><li>Identify and implement service improvements to ensure quality service delivery, establish and management robust quality assurance systems and preparation for annual external inspection. Participate in the development of strategic objectives and the production of departmental, service and team plans, policies and procedures and under the guidance of the Integrated Service Manager.</li><li>Recruit, motivate, train and develop staff within Council procedures and implement employment legislation.
