What you will do:
- Act as a lead advisor on child protection issues within the Council and provide guidance to external agencies on best practices.
- Chair Child Protection Conferences and complex strategy meetings, including those involving allegations against professionals, to ensure that decision-making promotes the welfare and safety of children within a multi-agency framework.
- Perform quality assurance reviews of child protection and child care practices, setting high standards to improve practice outcomes.
- Ensure all safeguarding decisions comply with relevant legislation and guidance such as the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and the London Child Protection Procedures.
- Facilitate the participation of parents and children by providing them with essential information and support to promote effective collaboration.
- Foster effective multi-agency cooperation to safeguard children and enhance their welfare, ensuring positive outcomes.
- Chair complex meetings concerning allegations against professionals, safeguarding children and maintaining proper records in accordance with Department for Education returns and performance requirements.
- Implement the Council's equal opportunity policies throughout all service delivery and employment practices.
- Participate in raising standards and improving service delivery as part of the Child Protection and Safeguarding Team Service Plan.
- Conduct audits of children subject to Child Protection plans as needed.
- Ensure electronic records are current and produced within required timescales.
- Contribute to and deliver training and professional practice forums on Child Protection and Safeguar
