A popular primary school in Croydon is recruiting a caring and organised Nursery Teacher to lead nursery provision from January 2026. The Nursery Teacher will design play-based activities, maintain detailed observations and plan purposeful next steps that develop early communication, physical and social skills. The Nursery Teacher will work closely with the Reception team to ensure continuity across the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The Croydon setting provides strong outdoor provision, a collaborative staff team and structured CPD. The Nursery Teacher will attend induction and planning before January 2026, and will be involved in parent engagement and transition activities in the weeks leading to January 2026.

Key responsibilities

  • Create stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments and plan child-centred nursery sessions.
  • Observe children regularly, use evidence to inform planning and maintain learning records.
  • Build strong partnerships with families to support routines and transitions into Reception.
  • Lead and support TAs in delivering high-quality early years provision across the nursery.
  • Contribute to the school’s EYFS improvement priorities and staff training activities.

Person specification

  • Appropriate early-years qualifications and experience leading nursery practice.
  • Sound knowledge of child development, observation and safeguarding in the early years.
  • Warm, organised and proactive with excellent communication skills for working in Croydon.
  • Able to start January 2026, with induction and planning sessions arranged before January 2026.
