Child Protection Social Worker
Location: Chesterfield
Pay Rate: £35.00 per hour
Contract: Locum | Full-Time

Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Child Protection Social Worker to join a dedicated Children's Social Care team in Chesterfield. This rewarding locum Social Worker opportunity offers a competitive rate of £35.00 per hour and the chance to make a meaningful difference by safeguarding vulnerable children, supporting families, and delivering effective statutory social work interventions.

This role is ideal for a passionate Children's Social Worker with experience in Child Protection, Safeguarding, and managing complex cases. You will work alongside partner agencies to assess risk, develop support plans, and help achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children and families requiring Child Protection and safeguarding intervention.
  • Complete high-quality assessments, including Child and Family Assessments, risk assessments, and reviews.
  • Undertake statutory visits, direct work, and interventions with children, young people, and families.
  • Develop, implement, and review effective child-centred protection plans.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, legal teams, and other partner agencies.
  • Participate in child protection conferences, core groups, strategy meetings, and multi-agency discussions.
  • Identify and manage safeguarding risks, ensuring children's safety and wellbeing remains the priority.
  • Prepare detailed reports, assessments, and court documentation where required.
  • Maintain accurate case records in line with statutory requirements and local procedures.
  • Advocate for children and ensure their voices influence decision-making.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant post-qualified experience within Children's Social Care.
  • Previous experience working as a Child Protection Social Worker, Safeguarding Social Worker, or within a Children in Need / Children in Care team.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, safeguarding procedures, and statutory guidance.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Salary range

  • £35 per hour
