Devon County Council is seeking an experienced and innovative Team Manager to lead a multidisciplinary Adults Social Care team. This is a pivotal leadership role focused on delivering high‑quality, person‑centred services to adults with complex needs. You will oversee key statutory functions, including safeguarding, Care Act assessments, and support planning, while ensuring compliance with legislation, best practice, and continuous service improvement.
What you will do
- Lead, manage, and inspire a team of social workers, practitioners, and support staff.
- Ensure the delivery of high‑quality assessments and support planning in line with the Care Act 2014.
- Oversee adult safeguarding enquiries and ensure robust risk management.
- Provide expert leadership and decision‑making on complex cases.
- Allocate workloads effectively and monitor caseloads to maintain service standards.
- Ensure compliance with legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Human Rights Act 1998.
- Chair safeguarding meetings and case reviews to support effective multi‑agency decision‑making.
- Work in partnership with health, housing, police, and voluntary sector organisations.
- Drive service improvement through quality assurance and performance management.
- Support professional development through supervision, guidance, and appraisals.
