About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Team Manager to join the Adoption Team in Durham. This rewarding locum opportunity places you at the centre of adoption services, where your leadership will directly influence the lives of children and families. Working alongside another Adoption Team Manager, you'll oversee performance, drive service development, and play a key role in shaping adoption outcomes.

Your expertise will be vital in ensuring quality assurance of Stage 2 adoption assessments, offering panel advice, and managing additional functions such as Access to Records and Non-Agency Adoptions. Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with another Adoption Team Manager to oversee team performance and service quality.

  • Provide professional oversight and quality assurance for Stage 2 adoption assessments.

  • Serve as a panel advisor, contributing specialist knowledge to decision-making processes.

  • Lead on areas including Access to Records and Non-Agency Adoption.

  • Promote continuous service development and high standards across all areas of adoption practice.

  • Support, mentor, and supervise staff, ensuring effective performance management and professional growth.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external partners to enhance outcomes for children and families.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified and registered Social Worker with Social Work England.

  • Demonstrable experience in adoption and family assessment work.

  • Strong leadership, quality assurance, and decision-making skills.

  • In-depth understanding of adoption legislation, guidance, and best practice.

  • Excellent communication and partnership-building abilities.

Salary range

  • £37.66 per hour
