What you will do

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of social workers within the Children in Care service.
  • Care Planning: Deliver high-quality care planning, permanency planning, and pathway planning for children and young people.
  • Statutory Oversight: Oversee statutory responsibilities, including reviews and visits, ensuring compliance with legislation and guidance.
  • Performance Management: Drive team performance, setting clear targets and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Supervision & Support: Provide reflective supervision, mentoring, and professional support to promote staff development.
  • Multi-Agency Working: Work collaboratively with partner agencies including health, education, and voluntary services.
  • Complex Decision-Making: Provide expert guidance on complex cases and support effective risk management.
  • Service Development: Contribute to service improvement plans and preparation for inspections.

This role is ideal for candidates with a recognised social work qualification, current registration with Social Work England, and substantial experience within Children in Care or Looked After Children services. Strong leadership and decision-making skills are essential.
