What You Will Do

  • Conduct thorough pre-birth assessments, evaluating parental capacity and identifying risks and protective factors.

  • Develop and implement care plans to safeguard children before and after birth.

  • Engage with expectant parents through home visits and group sessions to build parenting skills and support.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including midwives, GPs, police, and early help services for coordinated care.

  • Make informed child protection decisions, including initiating legal proceedings when necessary.

  • Provide ongoing support and adapt care plans in the post-birth period.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

  • Recognised Social Work qualification (BA, BSc, MA, DipSW, or CQSW).

  • Registered with Social Work England with a minimum of two years post-qualification experience, ideally in children's social work.

  • In-depth knowledge of child protection legislation and pre-birth protocols.

  • Valid Enhanced DBS check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills in sensitive contexts.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a child safety focus.
