An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Fostering Team in Medway. This ongoing locum role offers a competitive hourly rate of £38.00, alongside flexible part-time or full-time working options.

You will play a key role in the assessment, supervision, and support of foster carers, ensuring safe, stable, and high-quality placements for looked after children. The post is central to promoting placement stability, safeguarding, and positive outcomes for children and young people, in line with fostering legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice.

What you will do

  • Undertake Form F assessments of prospective foster carers in line with statutory requirements and Medway Council policies.

  • Provide regular supervision, professional support, and guidance to approved foster carers.

  • Complete annual foster carer reviews and contribute to fostering panel processes.

  • Support foster carers in meeting the needs of children with complex emotional, behavioural, and health needs.

  • Promote the safeguarding and welfare of looked after children placed in foster care.

  • Identify and manage risk, including responding to allegations, standards of care concerns, and safeguarding issues.

Salary range

  • £38 per hour
