Job Title: Social Worker (Experienced) - Adults
Location: Shire Hall, Gloucestershire
Salary: £35 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary
Duration: 1 December 2025 - 31 March 2026 (with potential extension)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00)

Overview

Gloucestershire County Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Adult Social Worker to join the Gloucester Locality Team, based at Shire Hall. This role offers a guaranteed minimum three-month assignment with the prospect of extension, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to strengths-based social work practice within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with adults experiencing challenging circumstances to promote independence, wellbeing, and informed life choices.

  • Apply the Three Conversations model to deliver strengths-based and person-centred interventions.

  • Build strong partnerships with local communities, voluntary organisations, and multi-agency professionals to ensure effective and holistic support.

  • Manage a caseload of up to 25 adults, ensuring timely assessments, reviews, and safeguarding duties where required.

  • Maintain accurate and compliant case records in line with statutory requirements and local policy.

  • Stay informed of key legislation, guidance, and best practice underpinning Adult Social Care.

  • Contribute to team meetings, multi-disciplinary discussions, and service development.

Salary range

  • £35 per hour
