About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Court Team within Children's Services in Powys. This ongoing role offers both part-time and full-time flexibility and a highly competitive hourly rate of £38.15.

You will undertake statutory social work responsibilities focused on children and families involved in care proceedings and pre-proceedings, working in line with the Children Act 1989. This role is ideal for a confident practitioner with strong court experience, excellent analytical skills, and a child-focused approach to practice.

  • Manage cases subject to care proceedings and other legal interventions.

  • Prepare high-quality, analytical, and evidence-based court reports, statements, assessments, and care plans within statutory timescales.

  • Represent Powys County Council in Family Court, providing professional evidence and recommendations.

  • Work closely with legal services, Cafcass, guardians, and external professionals.

  • Complete comprehensive assessments identifying risk, strengths, and protective factors.

  • Develop, implement, and review care plans that promote children's safety, stability, and wellbeing.
