What you will do

• Manage a varied caseload of Children in Need and Child Protection cases, prioritising safety and wellbeing.
• Carry out statutory assessments in accordance with the Children Act 1989.
• Undertake Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries to identify risks and support needs.
• Develop, implement, and review care and protection plans in partnership with families.
• Engage directly with children and families to assess needs and reduce risks.
• Prepare high‑quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.
• Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences and Core Group meetings.
• Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners including health, education, and police.
• Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with local authority requirements.
• Ensure compliance with statutory guidance and safeguarding procedures at all times.

Requirements

• Must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Significant experience within Children's Social Care, specifically CIN and CP work.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks.
• Ability to complete assessments, formulate care plans, and work effectively in multi‑agency settings.
• Confidence managing complex caseloads and meeting statutory timescales.
• Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.

Desirable

• Experience working within a London borough.
• Previous court work experience.
• Familiarity with Mosaic or similar local authority case management systems.
