What you will do
- Manage a varied caseload of Children in Need and Child Protection cases, prioritising safety and wellbeing.
- Carry out statutory assessments in accordance with the Children Act 1989.
- Undertake Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries to identify risks and support needs.
- Develop, implement, and review care and protection plans in partnership with families.
- Engage directly with children and families to assess needs and reduce risks.
- Prepare high‑quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.
- Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences and Core Group meetings.
- Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners including health, education, and police.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with local authority requirements.
- Ensure compliance with statutory guidance and safeguarding procedures at all times.
Requirements
- Must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Significant experience within Children's Social Care, specifically CIN and CP work.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks.
- Ability to complete assessments, formulate care plans, and work effectively in multi‑agency settings.
- Confidence managing complex caseloads and meeting statutory timescales.
- Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
Desirable
- Experience working within a London borough.
- Previous court work experience.
- Familiarity with Mosaic or similar local authority case management systems.
