Job Purpose:

You will provide high-quality, child-centred social work to children and young people looked after by Rochdale Council. Your role involves ensuring that children in care receive nurturing, stable placements alongside care plans designed to promote safety, wellbeing, and long-term success. Working within the CIC service, you will fulfil statutory responsibilities, develop effective care planning, and collaborate with carers, birth families, and partner agencies to safeguard and support each child's journey.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring all statutory duties are met, including regular visits and direct work.

  • Develop outcome-focused Care Plans, Placement Plans, and Pathway Plans to support each child's individual needs.

  • Support children through key transitions such as reunification, placement changes, or preparation for adulthood.

  • Prepare and present detailed reports for Looked After Children (LAC) Reviews, court proceedings, and relevant panels.

  • Work closely with Independent Reviewing Officers (IROs) to prevent drift or delay in permanency planning.
