Purpose of the Role

To undertake statutory social work assessments and interventions for children and families, identifying needs, managing risk, and providing clear, actionable recommendations. You will ensure services are delivered in line with statutory frameworks and local policies, keeping children's safety and wellbeing at the forefront of your practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families, considering physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.

  • Identify needs, risks, and strengths to develop child-focused care and support plans.

  • Ensure all assessments comply with the Children Act 1989/2004 and other relevant legislation.

  • Regularly review and update assessments and plans as cases progress.

  • Identify safeguarding concerns and initiate appropriate interventions to protect children.

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to safeguard vulnerable children.

  • Escalate high-risk cases and seek guidance from senior staff as required.

  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners, including health, education, police, and voluntary services.

  • Attend child protection conferences, strategy meetings, and other relevant forums.
