Job Overview

An urgent and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker to join the Central Community Team in Shropshire. This full-time locum role offers an ongoing contract and a competitive hourly rate of £28.40.

You will play a key role supporting adults across Shropshire, including older adults, people with physical disabilities, acquired brain injury (ABI), and other complex needs. This is a hands-on role requiring face-to-face assessments, so a driver with a flexible approach to hybrid working is essential.

What You Will Do

  • Manage a diverse caseload of adults including older adults, and individuals with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and mental health needs.

  • Undertake Care Act Assessments and Mental Capacity Assessments, and complete Best Interest decisions.

  • Develop outcome-focused support plans and arrange care packages, direct payments, and placements.

  • Carry out Section 42 safeguarding enquiries in line with the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.

  • Work collaboratively with health professionals, housing, police, and voluntary sector partners.

  • Respond to urgent situations including hospital discharges and carer breakdowns.

  • Maintain high-quality records and reports in line with council policies and professional standards.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.

Salary range

  • £28.40 per hour
