What you will do:

  • Manage a varied and demanding caseload, handling referrals, safeguarding concerns, and initial assessments.

  • Undertake comprehensive Child and Family Assessments within statutory timescales, ensuring effective risk management.

  • Lead complex cases, applying advanced professional judgement and detailed risk analysis.

  • Progress cases to Child Protection plans, Child in Need (CIN) plans, or care proceedings where necessary.

  • Provide practice guidance and mentoring to social workers and newly qualified staff within the team.

  • Participate in strategy discussions, child protection conferences, and legal planning meetings.

Person specification:

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.

  • Registration with Social Work England with full compliance.

Registration and compliance:

  • Enhanced DBS clearance required.

  • Must have the right to work in the UK.

Key skills:

  • Advanced safeguarding assessment and risk management skills.

  • Strong analytical thinking and professional judgement.

  • Ability to mentor and support other practitioners within the team.

  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.

  • Capability to manage complex cases effectively under pressure.

  • Proficiency in IT systems and electronic case management platforms.

Experience:

  • Significant post-qualifying experience in Children's Social Care.

  • Previous experience within Duty, Assessment, or Front Door teams.

  • Proven background in managing safeguarding and child protection cases.

  • Experience supporting junior staff and contributing to practice
