What you will do:

  • Manage a caseload of Children in Care, including complex and challenging cases.

  • Develop and regularly review care plans and permanence plans to ensure stability and long-term wellbeing for children and young people.

  • Ensure children's voices, wishes, and feelings are central to planning and decision-making.

  • Promote placement stability, working closely with foster carers, residential services, and partner agencies.

  • Prepare high-quality reports for statutory reviews, court proceedings, and planning meetings.

Person specification:

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.

Registration and compliance:

  • Registration with Social Work England.

  • Enhanced DBS clearance.

  • Must have the Right to Work in the UK.

Key skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Children in Care legislation and care planning frameworks.

  • Excellent safeguarding, assessment, and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to manage complex cases and provide practice leadership.

  • Outstanding communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with children, carers, and partner agencies.

  • Strong organisational and case management capabilities.

Experience:

  • Significant post-qualification experience in Children's Social Care.

  • Experience working with Children in Care / Looked After Children (LAC).

  • Experience in court work and permanence planning.

  • Background in supporting or mentoring junior staff.
