What you will do

  • Hold a reduced caseload of complex Children in Care cases, including those involved in care proceedings, ensuring high-quality assessments, care planning, and statutory visits in line with the Children Act 1989.

  • Lead on permanence planning, including reunification, long-term fostering, Special Guardianship Orders, and adoption, ensuring timely progression and minimising drift.

  • Provide practice guidance and informal supervision to Social Workers and ASYE staff, promoting reflective practice and sound decision-making.

  • Chair or contribute to professional meetings, including placement stability and disruption meetings, and support preparation for statutory reviews.

Person Specification
Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent).

  • Evidence of continued professional development, such as practice educator or leadership training, is desirable.

Registration & Compliance

  • Registered with Social Work England.

  • Strong working knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004, Care Planning Regulations 2010, and related statutory guidance.

  • Thorough understanding of permanence frameworks, fostering and adoption regulations, and corporate parenting responsibilities.
