What you will do

  • Supervise statutory orders for children and young people assigned to the Youth Justice Service.

  • Encourage and facilitate compliance with court orders and initiate enforcement where necessary.

  • Prepare detailed reports, including pre-sentence and referral order reports, in line with national standards.

  • Represent the Youth Justice Service at Youth and Crown Court, including occasional Saturdays and Bank Holidays.

  • Work closely with children's social care teams to support young people in local authority accommodation and reduce reoffending risks.

  • Liaise with the secure estate to support young people in custody and plan for successful resettlement.

  • Manage a varied caseload and undertake direct work with children, young people, and families.

  • Use assessment frameworks such as ASSETPlus to analyse offending behaviour and needs.

  • Assess and manage risks relating to harm, reoffending, vulnerability, and exploitation, creating robust management plans.

  • Develop and deliver targeted intervention plans to support positive outcomes.

  • Promote effective multi-agency working through reviews, meetings, and joint planning.

  • Supervise and support young people on bail to help prevent custodial remand.

  • Provide safeguarding advice to professionals regarding welfare concerns.

  • Deliver restorative justice approaches where appropriate.

  • Build strong partnerships across agencies to improve outcomes for young people.
