About us
Who are TransformUK?
TransformUK was founded in 2016 in partnership with Shoredich Tab Church to bring transformational love to vulnerable communities in East London.
Both with a background in youth work and alternative education, as well as lived experience of the care system, the team started by delivering a range of community projects, alternative education provision, youth clubs, education intervention & mentoring projects, night shelters and youth clubs.
In 2021, and after lots of working with girls in care, the team decided to put everything into establishing a model of children's home which offered genuine love & passion, intentional interventions & a family feel. Specifically to girls vulnerable to exploitation aged 10-18 yrs old.
In April 2025, along with some new team members, the home was registered by Ofsted. Overall TransformUK is a loving, caring team of leaders who aim to uplift and inspire young people to transform their lives for the better. We are passionate about our therapeutic approach and have designed our own framework - fancy right!
Our therapeutic framework blends the 'lived experience' of our team with the professional skills and expertise of supporting some of the most 'at risk' and vulnerable children and young people. It also includes research and evidence on the most effective trauma healing therapy modalities, repairing attachment trauma and neuroscience. Basically we are excited about healing, overcoming challenges and transformation!
We are passionate about finding people who truly love young people - one of our favourite sayings is 'once they know you care, they care about what you know.'
Our first home is a therapeutic home for girls aged 8-18 yrs old that have experienced complex and traumatic backgrounds. Our vision is for a safe loving and secure long term family environment which prepares our girls for a fulfilled life. A place of sanctuary where success and progress is individual and allows exploration and discovery of their story and identity. We will be consistent, committed, aspirational and innovative as advocates to and for our girls.
Located in East London, the home brings together professional knowledge and first-hand experience of the care system, trauma, and abuse to create a safe, supportive, and healing environment for young women.
The approach is informed by attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, and research into the impact of early childhood trauma on brain development. Alongside established evidence-based methods, the team is working collaboratively with therapeutic communities to shape and strengthen its own psychosocial model of care.
The home believes that meaningful relationships, genuine compassion, lived experience, and research-led practice are key to helping young people achieve lasting positive change.
With four spacious double bedrooms, the home is designed to provide a warm, family-style environment where young people feel secure, valued, and supported in all aspects of their wellbeing.
