Careers at Snowdrop House
Nurses
The Registered General Nurses (RGNs) employed at Snowdrop House by Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.
At Snowdrop House, we also have jobs for mental health nurses (RMNs), who support residents with more complex needs or greater dependency levels. Because we offer nursing dementia care, your mental health nurse expertise will be valuable for residents requiring an understanding of dementia and mental health.
Nurses working at Care UK care homes provide clinical nursing to residents including medication management, infection prevention and control, including wound care and catheter management. They also develop tailored care plans for individualised care of residents. We use Waterlow and MUST clinical assessment tools to support our work.
We also offer opportunities for newly qualified nurses.
Care Assistants
Our hardworking care assistants always keep individuals and their families at the heart of the care they provide. They work with the families to shape the care that each resident receives, from the food they’re served to the activities and experiences they want to do – even the ways they prefer to keep in touch with their friends and family.
Clinical Leads
Clinical leads oversee the nursing team and are responsible for delivering the individual care plans. They deputise for the management team and work with local GPs and other healthcare professionals to maintain the best quality of care for residents.
Team Leaders
With a proven ability to lead and supervise others, team leaders work alongside care assistants to support residents with their daily needs. Ideally with an NVQ level 3 in health and social care, or with a desire to achieve this, team leaders will carry out risk assessments, administer and record medication requirements and lead the care assistants on a day to day basis.
Lifestyle Teams
Our dedicated lifestyles teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know each resident to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.
Snowdrop House Home Manager, Clare Crow
“In my career so far I have undertaken a wide variety of roles all over the country including care case manager for the East of England. I have also worked for the prison service, a wide range of hospitals and care homes, and people with challenging behaviour.
"I started work with Care UK in September 2014 and I believe to be an effective team member you need to have a positive attitude, be caring, respectful and approachable, and have a good sense of humour!
"My favourite part of the working day is motivating the staff to ensure the residents are their main focus of the day, creating memorable moments, laughter and joy. My biggest professional challenge so far has been saving a person's life and then continue to watch them grow and flourish."In my spare time I enjoy travelling, spa days and have a huge interest in guide dogs and caring for animals.”

“As Colleague Voice, I have attended a conference last year in Gatwick which 1 was pushed outside my comfort zone (as I was solo travelling which is generally a fear of mine!) and 2 I have really helped my fellow colleagues with raising feedback and way to better support the home. I thoroughly enjoy this role!“
Kallum Chamberlain - Colleague Voice’s Champion

Costel Alin Marcu - Deputy Manager
“Care UK is a great organisation to work for. I’ve previously worked as Team Leader and Nurse at Snowdrop House, and I consider becoming a Registered Nurse as the highlight of my career so far. As Deputy Manager, I believe good communication is an important skill to have – you need to be able to communicate information concisely and effectively with residents, team members and families.
"But the most important part of my job is maintaining the health and wellbeing of the residents who live in Snowdrop House and our colleagues. The mornings are my favourite part of my working day. I like to get a head start so I can start the day with a positive, can-do attitude. I’m proud to make a difference in the lives of residents and to help guide my colleagues.”
Victoria Rapley - Unit Manager
“I was keen to join Care UK when a new care home was built near where I lived. I’d worked in the care industry since I was 18, so I wanted to work for another care provider. At Snowdrop House, the most important part of my role is communicating with others and ensuring the needs and best interests of residents are met.
"I’ve worked hard to progress in my career, having started as a Carer and being promoted to Team Leader, then Senior Team Leader and now Unit Manager on the residential suite at Snowdrop House. I want to continue learning and growing, and I’m currently taking Care UK’s Future Deputy Manager course. My favourite part of the day is arriving to work on the suite and assisting residents with their daily tasks. I always get a thank you or a smile.”
