About us
We provide unaccompanied young people seeking asylum with a safe home and prepare them for independent life in the UK.
Established in 2018, Enthum House was born from the hands-on experiences of our founders in the Calais Jungle refugee camp. The fusion of 'Enterprise' and 'Human' in our name symbolises our commitment to creating a supportive family for those who have undertaken arduous journeys alone, seeking safety in the UK to rebuild their lives.
Enthum House, stands tall as a testament to our dedication. From the Calais Jungle to operating two homes today, we're recognised by Local Authorities, social workers and commissioners for our transformative impact and unique enhanced service and approach.
Our 24/7 team has stood alongside over 63 resilient young people from Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Vietnam and Eritrea, helping them not only find shelter but also fostering skills, nurturing purpose, and lighting the way to a brighter future.
We have a fantastic, experienced and dedicated 24/7 staff team. They include our Registered Service Manager, Head of Young Persons Support, Therapeutic Support Workers and Night Shift Team.
They work alongside our English as a Second Language (ESOL) teacher and our specifically trained Disclosure and Barring Service checked group of volunteers and mentors.
After working as a filmmaker with European wide clients for over 15 years, I became deeply affected by the plight of people stranded in the ‘Calais Jungle’ in France. I volunteered between 2015-16 at the Women and Children Centre, making campaign films for Safe Passage and the Lord Alf Dubs Amendment, a respected Labour peer himself once a child refugee fleeing Nazi Germany. This inspired me to set up refugee support groups in Lewes and co-found Enthum House with Jo, overseeing its operations and outreach programmes.
