What you will do:

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people in the care of Newham Council, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and developmental needs are met.

  • Conduct statutory visits, assessments, and reviews in accordance with legislation, regulations, and local authority procedures.

  • Develop, implement, and review comprehensive care plans tailored to the individual needs of each child.

  • Promote permanence planning, including reunification, long-term fostering, kinship care, special guardianship, and adoption.

  • Ensure the wishes, feelings, and views of children and young people are central to assessment, planning, and decision-making processes.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records using the council's case management systems.

  • Identify and assess risks, taking appropriate safeguarding action to protect children and young people.

  • Participate in strategy discussions, placement stability meetings, safeguarding meetings, and other multi-agency forums.

  • Prepare high-quality reports for Looked After Children Reviews
