Nursery Room Leader
Are you an energetic, nurturing educator who thrives in an early years environment and is ready to lead a baby room with vision and joy? Join us at our vibrant, forward-thinking school in Barnet, where our nursery provision sits within a broader community that values curiosity, care and growth. You will be the Room Leader for our 9-month to 2-year-old cohort (9 children per session, 40 in total), alongside two other adults in the room — a truly collaborative team.
• You’ll help shape and lead the environment just ahead of an upcoming inspection — a chance to make your mark and shine.
• You’ll benefit from being part of a dynamic school community that offers rich experiences (including music, eco-school initiatives and vibrant parent/carer relationships).
• Plan, deliver and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Support, supervise and mentor the two other adults in your room — fostering teamwork, consistent practice and high-quality interactions.
• Ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, record-keeping and readiness for inspection by Ofsted in May.
• Build strong partnerships with families, welcoming their input, sharing progress and nurturing each child’s early love of learning.
• Proven experience leading or supervising a room of babies/very young children; confident managing routines, transitions and developmental progress.
• Passionate about early childhood, warm, curious and creative in your approach.
• Strong communicator, approachable to children, families and colleagues alike.
• Organised and reflective — always looking to improve practice and contribute to the wider nursery/school culture.
• Clear core hours (08:15–15:45), Monday to Friday — helping with work-life balance.
• A permanent role, giving you stability and the chance to develop and grow professionally.
• The opportunity to be part of a school community that values early years as the foundation for lifelong learning — where your contribution is both seen and celebrated.
• Offer an excellent ‘refer a friend’ scheme that pays you £150 for each candidate you refer to us after they have worked and been paid for their first 10 days.
