We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Child Protection Conference Chair to join a dedicated Children's Social Care service in Liverpool. This ongoing full-time locum role offers an excellent hourly rate of £40.00 and provides the opportunity to play a key leadership role in safeguarding children and promoting the highest standards of child protection practice. Working within a collaborative multi-agency environment, you will ensure Child Protection Conferences are effectively chaired, statutory requirements are met, and positive outcomes are achieved for children and families.

What you will do:

  • Independently arrange, chair, and review multi-agency Child Protection Conferences in accordance with statutory guidance and local safeguarding procedures.
  • Ensure Child Protection Plans are robust, outcome-focused, and reviewed within statutory timescales.
  • Provide independent oversight and quality assurance of safeguarding practice across Children's Social Care and partner agencies.
  • Constructively challenge practice where necessary to ensure children receive effective protection and support.
  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of safeguarding interventions, promoting continuous service improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, education professionals, health services, police, and partner agencies to ensure coordinated safeguarding responses.
  • Prepare comprehensive conference records and maintain accurate documentation in line with organisational policies and statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of safeguarding practice, policy implementation, and quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain a strong office presence by working a minimum of three days per week on-site, supporting effective partnership working and service delivery.

Requirements:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care, with extensive expertise in child protection and safeguarding.
  • Previous experience chairing or participating in Child Protection Conferences and multi-agency safeguarding meetings is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, child protection procedures, and relevant safeguarding legislation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to provide independent challenge while maintaining positive and effective professional relationships.
