We are seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic, and committed Nursery Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Potters Bar, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and enjoys supporting children as they begin their learning journey.

The school has a strong community ethos and prioritises early development, wellbeing, and positive learning behaviours. Staff work collaboratively to create a stimulating, safe, and supportive environment where children feel confident, curious, and motivated to learn. Senior leadership is approachable and provides mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

As a Nursery Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality early years provision aligned with the EYFS framework. You will create a balance of structured and play-based learning experiences that support children’s social, emotional, physical, and academic development. Building strong relationships with children and families will be a central part of your role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging nursery lessons in line with the EYFS framework

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment

  • Support children’s development across all areas of learning, including literacy, numeracy, and personal development

  • Use observation and assessment to track progress and inform planning

  • Differentiate activities to meet the needs of all children, including SEND and EAL

  • Promote positive behaviour, routines, and independence

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and Early Years staff

  • Build strong partnerships with parents and carers

  • Maintain accurate learning journals, records, and assessments

  • Contribute to EYFS planning, moderation, and whole-school initiatives

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an EYFS teaching qualification

  • Have experience teaching in Nursery or Early Years

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the EYFS framework

  • Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic

  • Have excellent classroom organisation and behaviour management skills

  • Be creative, reflective, and adaptable

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

The school is located in Potters Bar, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, inclusive, and well-resourced environment where collaboration, development, and staff wellbeing are prioritised.
