What you will do:
- Assess the nutritional needs of young people referred to the service.
- Contribute to initial assessments, providing specialist dietetic advice to young people, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of refeeding syndrome and its management within an eating disorder population.
- Act as an advocate for dietetic interventions and promote improved nutritional understanding among young people and their families.
- Comply with and implement, as far as practicable, the NICE Guidelines for Eating Disorders (2004) and the MEED Guidelines (2022).
- Provide clinical supervision and leadership to junior staff, as well as mentor students on placement within the service.
- Participate in clinical case meetings and CPA reviews to ensure the needs of individuals with eating disorders and their families/carers are addressed to support recovery.
- Seek medical advice as necessary, for example when recommending hospital admission for medical stabilisation.
- Design and deliver specialised programmes of care for patients treated in the community, which may include alternative feeding solutions.
- Contribute to health promotion and eating disorder prevention activities as part of the specialist team.
- Provide care packages and psycho-education that take account of family dynamics and significant social networks.
- Ensure client safety in potentially aggressive situations by adhering to safety guidelines and policies.
