Job Description

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is one of the leading mental health trusts in the UK.
Serving a population of 1.2million people, across one of the most exciting and affordable cities in Europe, GMMH provides community and inpatient mental health care, alongside substance misuse services across the North West.
The Trust employs around 4750 people, who make a difference across 130 locations. Staff at GMMH work to improve lives with a culture based on five core values:
  • We are caring and compassionate
  • We inspire hope
  • We work together
  • We value and respect
  • We are open and honest
GMMH is one of the most active research trusts in the UK, with one of the highest levels of recruitment to clinical trials for mental health. This puts our staff and service users at the leading edge of new mental health treatments.
The Trust provides a range of specialist services including prison in reach across the North of England, a specialist centre for mental health and deafness and in patient perinatal mental health care.
We have been rated 'Good' overall by the Care Quality Commission. Our substance misuse services and leadership were rated as 'Outstanding'

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust are recruiting Band 6 mental health nurses for our CORE 24 All Age Liaison Mental Health Services across Greater Manchester.

Do you....

    • Have a 'Can do' attitude?

    • Want to work as part of a multidisciplinary team?

    • Want to apply your skills as a mental health nurse in A&E and the acute hospital setting?

    • You want to work in a team that supports your own personal and professional development?

    • Look for something different every day?

In line with the Five Year Forward Plan for Mental Health and our exciting CORE 24 transformation program of services, we are expanding our existing acute hospital-based liaison mental health services and want you to join us.

Our services operate 24/7, providing specialist psychiatric assessment, advice and care planning to people who present to A&E or have been admitted to the general hospital setting and are experiencing known or suspected mental health problems.

As the successful candidate, you will be enthusiastic, flexible and committed to delivering high quality mental health care in the general hospital and A&E environments.

Due to the diverse nature of the populations we serve, a wide range of exciting learning opportunities are part of your daily work. The day-to-day diversity of our services and the support available in learning, are key reasons why people join us! Your learning will be further facilitated by the fact that you will be working within experienced multidisciplinary teams, among experts in a number of different fields involved in wider research and service development agendas.

You will bring with you a range of experience and knowledge that will further enrich our teams and the service we provide. Your knowledge and skills will enable you to provide comprehensive person-centered assessments, advice, direct interventions and onward care planning to people with a range of different needs.

We recognise the importance of supporting our staff to achieve an effectively work-life balance and maintain positive wellbeing. Therefore, we work with team members to offer flexibility in their roles and working wherever this is possible. Our services describe themselves as mutually supportive and we understand the challenges that can be associated with mental health care delivery.

Finally, why should you come to work with us? Greater Manchester is recognised as a rapidly growing city, it is versatile and it offers people the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities, cultures, and excellent educational and academic opportunities, theatrical and culinary experiences. It can adapt to be whatever you would want and has something for people of all ages, 24/7, 365 days a year.
