Job Description

We are seeking a committed and experienced Social Worker to lead the Child Development Service Team on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands in the capacity of Children's Safeguarding Manager.
This is an 8A/8B-equivalent role; the salary is up to £64,342 plus an annual bonus of £1,286
Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS or Local Authority service for annual leave and sick leave.

Reporting to the Service Manager you will;
- Be accountable for managing the Child Development Service and for the provision and future planning of services for children with disabilities and additional needs.
- Take responsibility for supporting inter-disciplinary collaboration and multi- disciplinary team development to ensure effective service provision to children with disabilities and additional needs, including Looked After Children and those who are subject to Child Protection procedures or legal procedures.
- Monitor service provision and development, recruitment, continued professional development, appraisals and disciplinary issues for these areas whilst being accountable for the services' budgets and physical resources.
- Other responsibilities include the monitoring and implementation of policies and procedures for the Child Development Service, day-to-day management of disability issues (in the capacity of designated person for disability) acting as lead person throughout Children and Family Community Services through the provision of specialised advice to staff on disability issues, training, conference attendance and staff supervision in relation to disability issues.

The States of Guernsey delivers a diverse range of healthcare; their Social Work service provides excellent Child Protection and Child in Need care, supported by Social Workers recruited to a very high standard.
This includes undertaking work with children subject to care requirements in accordance with the Children (Guernsey and Alderney) Law 2008.
The Law has introduced fundamental and significant changes to how concerns relating to children and young people are dealt with and is based broadly on the Children's Hearing System in Scotland.

Person requirements :
Qualified Social Worker with current UK registration.
Current or recent UK Child Protection and/or Looked After Children experience
Management responsibility in c
urrent or recent role.
Experience with Children with disabilities would be an advantage.
Be in possession of a clean and current car driving licence; own vehicle required, (mileage expensed at full rate).
