Job Description

367 Thornaby Road is a residential home for five residents with complex learning disabilities and associated behaviors who have lived together in a homely environment for a number of years within a suburban community.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Male* Associate Practitioner to work with adults with learning disabilities within the Teesside area. The post requires the successful candidate to work flexibly across the inpatient assessment and treatment unit and the community.

Youwill be expected to demonstrate knowledge of issues relating to Transforming Care Agenda, risk assessment, Positive behaviour support, autism and physical and mental well-being.

Working within a person centred values based andsupporting the nursing team inidentifying strategies and plans for future care, maximisingindividual's strengths and minimising the impact of their needs on their daily lives.

You will need excellent communication skills and be calm, confident and resilient in your approach. You will need to be able to form therapeutic relationships with people with learning disabilities and mental health needs. You will be joining a team of highly skilled and committed individuals and will become part of the multi-disciplinary team.

The successful individual will need a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care and Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent to be recruited in to the position on Band 4.

If the successful applicant has not got the Foundation Degree they will be appointed on a temporary trainee contract on £16,909 first year and £18,117 on the second year of training. Trainees currently on Agenda for Change Band 3 would retain their current salary. Applicants applying to be trainees will need to have the NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social care 3 and literacy and numeracy level 2

The Associate Practitioner training programme will last 2 years during which time individuals will be expected to complete the Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care and meet the required competencies of the role.

*Salary during training will be in accordance with Annex 21 of Agenda for Change:

During 1st year: £16,909 per annum

During 2nd year: £18,117 per annum

Following successful completion of the training programme and the two years' experience the individual will transfer to Agenda for Change Band 4.
