Job Description

One full time Social Worker post in the East Kent Early Intervention in Psychosis Service.

The Early intervention in psychosis service is a specialist Kent wide team which is split into localities. The service has recently developed and accepts referrals for individuals aged 14-65 years of age. There are plans for further development to work with individuals identified with an at risk mental state (ARMS). This is an exciting time to join this dynamic service with changes ahead under the DOH's Access and waiting times, ensuring the team continues to provide high quality support to all that use the service.

Our service aims to work alongside individuals and their families by adopting strength and recovery based approach which maximises self-determination, and empowerment. There is a high level of individual and family work, as well as various group work activities including linking in with many partner organisations and professionals with an increasing emphasis on co production.

We are looking for a social worker who will be working alongside a friendly and supportive team comprising of nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists and support workers .

Regular supervision, training and opportunities to undertake direct work with individuals and families is crucial in promoting positive outcomes for our clients. You will have the opportunity to access training by KCC and receive support by social work seniors and peers to maintain your professional values within a multi-disciplinary service.

You will be educated to degree level in Social Work and be registered as a Social Worker with the HCPC.

You must also possess:

• Good interpersonal skills
• An ability to prioritise and to work effectively on your own initiative as well as within a team
• An ability to work within a framework of social work ethics and values
• An ability to apply an evidence base and reflect on practice
• Good report-writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
• Knowledge and understanding of key Social Care and Mental Health legislation and policy, mental disorders, including first episode psychosis, treatments and approaches to social work intervention
• Familiarity with recent research.
