Job Description

Would you like to be part of an innovative and enthusiastic team providing support and intervention to young people and their families experiencing mental illness or emotional distress? We are looking for two Band 3 Support Workers to enhance our existing Intensive Home Treatment Service for people up until their 18th birthday across Durham and Darlington.

The service isfast paced and the ideal applicant will be extremely organised and self motivated to provide high quality assessment and formulation to the young people within the service.

We have won multiple awards for innovative practice, including a Positive Practice in Mental Health Award and a Nursing Times Award. It has attracted significant national interest due to its success in responding to the huge challenge of emergency mental health care for young people; the team was involved in developing new national guidance for emergency mental health care for young people and has been identified as an area of good practice by the CQC and NHS England.

The team provide a creative and proactive approach in engaging young people and their families. We are proud of the culture we have created and will go the extra mile to provide the right service to meet the needs of young people and families. It is this culture which has underpinned the success of the team and ensured that what was a pilot project, has now been commissioned as an integral part of the wider CAMHS service.

The successful candidates will be compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated to improve the lives of young people experiencing a mental health problem whilst also minimising the impact of mental ill health. The successful candidate will be delivering support and interventions working flexible hours across the entire week.

The ability to engage and communicate with children and young people across the developmental spectrum as well as the parents/carers and system around them is essential, including during emotive and/or challenging situations.

The successful candidates must have completed the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent. Candidates must also have Literacy and Numeracy level 2 or equivalent. If you are applying for a secondment you must have the permission of your manager before applying.
