Job Description

A unique opportunity for a B7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner has come up in the Bolton! The position will be based in Central Bolton GP Practices meaning time spent across various practices in central Bolton offering face to f ace clinic appointments where mental Health is likely to be a primary concern.

You will be a first or second contact practitioner. You will be a component leading towards the solution to supporting GP demand.

As part of the wider Primary Care team you will integrate with other specialist workforces and GPs to support the people b eing seen within your network of GP practices.

You will support the promotion and implementation of mental health early intervention, medication avoidance where clinically indicated, unnecessary referrals, reducing hospital admissions and A&E presentations relating to mental ill health, alongside supporting patients with self-help, brief interventions, accessing therapies and accessing community assets.

Your role will be pivotal in supporting members of the public who use your service from developing problems and crisis later on in life. In addition to offering appointments you will feed into network multi disciplinary meetings where you will provide specialist advice around Mental Health to other professionals in order to support clinical management plans.

Experience of autonomous working is desirable for the role. We are also looking for someone to have the required leadership skills that will support you to embed your clinics into G.P Practices. As the only Specialist Mental Health professional in the practice you must be open to seek clinical support where necessary from your Mental Health peers working in alternative practices or clinical staff within your practice.

Bolton prides itself on its ability to respond to the diversity of its population, it's range of cultures and languages. Although not essential for the role it would be ideal if applicants had experience of working in an area with similar demographics to Bolton Central, with understanding of languages in particular south Asian languages.
