We have an opportunity within our Mental Health of Learning Disability Service (MHLD). MHLD is a community-based specialist service for adults with learning disabilities and works in partnership with the Community Learning Disability Teams (CLDT - delivered by Kent Community Healthcare Foundation Trust & Kent County Council). We are seeking a highly motivated practitioner who is looking for a new challenge and who has the excellent clinical skills to make a difference as we continue to transform the service in line with the Transforming Care for People with Learning Disabilities agenda. The ability to challenge the status quo is also a necessary attribute. The locality we presently have opportunities for you to join us in is in the beautiful town of Royal Tunbridge Wells. This is a beautiful part of Kent, and this post would suit someone wanting to relocate from a different part of the country, or someone who trained locally. All teams are staffed by committed and passionate clinicians with a strong, shared values base: placing the person with learning disabilities at the centre of our work. We also work hard to ensure the needs of families and paid carers are addressed: systemic and narrative approaches are central to much of our work. We have an excellent retention rate: when staff join our teams they feel supported and valued by the rest of the MHLD as well as partnership agencies - and they want to stay!
The service is divided into seven MHLD teams across Kent and Medway. Each team comprises clinical psychologists, psychiatrists and specialist nurses. There are also assistant psychologists and a specialist counsellor providing valuable work in the service. In addition there is a Psychological Behavioural Support Team within the MHLD service which works intensively with clients with the most complex needs and behaviour which challenges. The service delivery is mainly via out-patients clinic and domiciliary visits. The teams provide comprehensive, multi-professional assessments of needs with specialist interventions. In complex cases care is provided using the Care Programme Approach (CPA) framework.
Applicants must be RNLD and\/or RMN qualified and have post registration experiences in working with service users with complex mental illness or Learning Disability.
The successful applicants will be able to deliver within a multidisciplinary framework high quality care in line with CPA and discharge planning, supporting service users in their recovery.
In return, you will be joining a well established, experienced, skilled and supportive Multidisciplinary team where training, supervision and peer support are readily available.
