Job Description

We have an exciting new vacancy for Band 6 Care Coordinators to join the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIP). The post is for 37.5 hours in South West Kent.

This is a time for transformation where the Early Intervention in Psychosis service is evolving to meet demand. The team have recently extended the age range from 35 to 65 years and is offering a number of interventions to service users who are presenting with a first episode of psychosis and their families and carers . This development is following the introduction of the Access and Waiting Time Standards. The service has a strong ethos of ensuring service users and their families/carers are central to leading their recovery. We are looking for a qualified practitioner (Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker working under KMPT Terms and Conditions) with relevant experience, who is motivated to work within and contribute to the continued development of this exciting service. Experience of working with the older client group where a differential diagnosis may be indicated as opposed to first episode of psychosis would be beneficial however not essential.

The Early Intervention in Psychosis Service forms part of the Community Recovery Service Line Directorate. The existing team is comprised of Community Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Psychological Practitioners, Support Time and Recovery Workers, Admin and Clerical Workers.

Care Coordinators have capped caseloads to allow for innovative and focused interventions in partnership with service users, families and carers promoting recovery, social inclusion and well-being. Experience of working directly with people with psychosis is essential. Applicants need to be able to work flexibly, creatively and be responsive to the needs of this client group and their carers. This post is subject to a six month probationary period for candidates external to the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust. Employment in this post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service.To deliver an effective service it is essential that you are able to travel between bases in a timely manner. As part of the Band 6 Nursing team you will be required to attain a mentoring qualification.
