Job Description

Job Title: Senior Support Coach

Location: Brixton

Salary: £28,600

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Sunday on either 8 or 13.5 hour shifts, on a rota. Working hours can include 08:00 - 21:30, 08:00 - 16:00, and 13:30 - 21:30. You may be required to work flexibly around these hours including weekends, evenings and bank holidays dependent on the rota.

Please note, due to the nature of the service, it is an occupational requirement that the post holder is female and the post is therefore exempt from the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 in terms of Schedule 9, Part 1, and Paragraph 1 of the Act.

About the role

As a Senior Support Coach, you will play a pivotal role within the service, supporting the Management team to deliver to service KPIs. You will lead by example, supporting the wider team through mentorship and sharing expertise to empower the wider team to achieve their personal and work related objectives. As a Senior in this post, you will act as a point of contact for the wider team, providing specialist support, advice, and guidance to them for their daily challenges.

the team at HerStory House forms as part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway. They deliver services for women in the criminal justice system who are deemed as high risk, and likely to meet the criteria for personality disorder. The service offers specialist accommodation to high risk/high need women who require intensive support to overcome barriers to resettlement and progress towards independent living in the community. You will form as part of the frontline care and support team, providing support to our residents to help them overcome their personal barriers, and gain greater independence. There may be levels of support required with substance use and harm reduction. You will support the management team with managing the rota and carrying out other ad hoc tasks.

About you

We're looking for someone who has a true passion to support those who have multiple and complex needs, with a drive to help support women who have been in the criminal justice system and may meet the criteria for personality disorder. You will be able to build rapport and trusting relations in a professional setting, and able to build positive outcomes. You will have an adaptable and flexible approach to helping others, with an understanding that each individual has different levels and types of support needs. You will need:

  • Due to the nature of this service, all applicants are required to be female.
  • Knowledge/understanding of Offender Personality Disorder
  • Ability to provide specialist support to colleagues and other teams on support coach responsibilities and supporting our residents with varying challenges
  • Ability to be proactive and use initiative to resolve challenges
  • Experience in housing and move on support
  • Experienced in facilitating activities which promote recovery and skills development
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, safeguarding practices, and psychologically informed environments
  • Experience in Drugs Management and supporting individuals with substance misuse issues, including harm reduction strategies
  • Experience in crisis management and conflict resolution
