Key Responsibilities
Hold a reduced but complex caseload , including long-term child protection and court-involved cases.
Lead Section 47 enquiries and contribute to strategy discussions in high-risk scenarios.
Undertake comprehensive assessments , develop care plans, and manage risk to ensure children's safety.
Mentor and support less experienced practitioners and students within the team.
Write and present robust court reports , attend hearings, and give expert evidence.
Build strong multi-agency partnerships to deliver coordinated, child-centred safeguarding responses.
Champion best practice , comply with statutory frameworks, and contribute to service improvement activities.
Actively participate in team learning , peer reviews, and regular supervision sessions.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications:
Degree in Social Work or equivalent
Registration with Social Work England
Experience:
Significant post-qualified experience in statutory children's services
Proven ability to manage high-risk child protection and safeguarding cases
Experience providing peer support, mentoring, or supervision within a team
Knowledge & Skills:
Excellent knowledge of legislation , safeguarding protocols, and child development
Strong analytical and risk assessment skills
Effective communicator, both in writing and verbally
Personal Attributes:
Resilient and adaptable with emotional intelligence
Committed to trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and inclusive practice
Confident in professional judgement and able to manage complexity
