Locum Social Work Team Manager - Safeguarding Team

Location: Hereford, UK Hourly Rate: £41.42 Contract Type: Ongoing Working Pattern: Full-Time / Part-Time

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and committed Team Manager to lead a frontline Children's Safeguarding Team in Herefordshire. This is an excellent locum opportunity offering an attractive hourly rate of £41.42 , with flexible full-time or part-time hours. In this pivotal leadership role, you will provide both strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-centred safeguarding services.

Key Responsibilities

Provide clear leadership and supervision to Social Workers, Advanced Practitioners, and administrative staff within the Safeguarding Team.

Drive timely, proportionate, and effective responses to child protection concerns, ensuring robust assessment, planning, and intervention.

Oversee complex safeguarding cases and chair critical meetings, including strategy discussions and decision-making forums.

Monitor team performance using key performance indicators, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and Ofsted standards .

Lead on court proceedings , ensuring high-quality legal documentation and timely submissions.

Promote effective multi-agency collaboration with partners including health, police, education, and the voluntary sector.

Maintain oversight of team budgets, including staffing and commissioned placements/services.

Essential Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW or equivalent)

Registration with Social Work England

Management qualification or willingness to work towards one

Significant post-qualification experience in statutory children's services

Demonstrated experience in child protection and complex case management

Proven capability in supervision or team management

Desirable Attributes

Strong leadership with a child-centred, values-driven approach

Ability to remain calm, decisive, and effective in high-pressure environments

Commitment to service quality, innovation , and continuous improvement

High levels of professional integrity, resilience , and accountability
