Locum Social Worker - Cared For Children Team

Location : Rochdale, UK Hourly Rate : £35.00 Contract : Ongoing | Full-Time or Part-Time

The Cared For Children Team in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated Locum Social Worker to provide high-quality care and planning for children looked after by the local authority. In this position, you will manage complex caseloads, carry out statutory assessments, and implement care plans that prioritise the safety, stability, and wellbeing of children. Key Responsibilities :

Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop tailored intervention plans in line with statutory requirements.

Promote permanency through family reunification, long-term fostering, or adoption.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated and effective services.

Attend statutory reviews, prepare court reports, and ensure accurate record-keeping.

Comply with all legal frameworks, including the Children Act 1989.

Essential Requirements :

A recognised qualification in Social Work (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).

Registration with Social Work England.

Post-qualification experience in children's social care, ideally within looked-after children services.

Strong assessment, planning, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high professional standards.
