Job Description
Senior Care Assistant - Residential Care Home
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Pay Rate: £12.94 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 36-48 hours per week
Shifts: 8am to 8pm - Days

The Role
As a Senior Care Assistant, you'll lead by example, ensuring high-quality, person-centered care for our residents while supporting and guiding a team of care assistants. This role is pivotal in delivering specialist dementia care and ensuring the well-being of those in our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Medication Administration: Safely administer medication in line with residents' care plans and legal guidelines.
- Care Delivery: Provide tailored care to meet each resident's physical, emotional, and social needs, promoting dignity and independence.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor care staff, ensuring the delivery of excellent standards of care.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed, accurate care records and medication documentation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and the management team to ensure a holistic approach to care.
- Specialist Dementia Support: Apply knowledge and best practices to support residents living with dementia.
What We're Looking For
We're searching for a compassionate and experienced individual who takes pride in delivering top-quality care and supporting a team.
Essential Requirements:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Experience administering medication (medication trained).
- Proven experience in a similar role within a care home environment.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- A caring and empathetic approach to elderly and dementia care.
Desirable Qualities:
- Additional qualifications or training in dementia care.
- Knowledge of CQC guidelines and compliance standards.
