Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
SIG Equinox - Brighton Women's Service is a dedicated, female-only residential project offering varying levels of support-low, medium, and high-to women who have experienced homelessness, substance use, involvement with the criminal justice system, mental health challenges, and domestic abuse. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment where women can recover and rebuild their lives, empowering them to achieve long-term stability and well-being.
We are currently seeking a Deputy Service Manager for our Women's Service. We are looking for someone who is truly committed to the rights of women. This role offers the opportunity to support and manage our team, driving high-quality, trauma-informed care for our residents. The service provides a much-needed safe space and support for women to feel empowered in their healing journey and to feel secure in their independence, strength, and skills.
The successful candidate will help lead the service, which spans over 2 buildings, and will develop their team, consisting of support mentors and family workers. We are seeking a passionate, driven, and motivated individual to lead this service in a trauma-informed and inclusive way.
Shift/Working pattern: 22.5 hours a week - In service Monday 8 - 4pm, Tuesday 8 - 4pm, Thursday 8 - 4pm

What we are looking for:
- Please note, due to the nature of the service, it is an occupational requirement that the post holder is female and the post is therefore exempt from the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 in terms of Schedule 9, Part 1, and Paragraph 1 of the Act.
- Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
- Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
- IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software.
- Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
- Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions
- Previous experience in people management and development
- Understanding, knowledge, and/or practical application of key legislation - Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Social Care, and Housing, and Health, Safety and Environment
Line Management and Leadership
- Provide high quality support, leadership and line management to staff, offer guidance, support, and advice to the team and support them to perform to the best of their abilities.
- Proactively embed a culture of learning, development, reflection, and evaluation in a psychologically informed environment.
- Support the Service Manager with the overall day-to-day operational delivery of your service, working directly with your team, colleagues, residents and participants, as well as other stakeholders.
- Support the Service Manager to ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively.
- Support the team and service to meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
- Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
- Be part of the operational on-call Rota for providing out-of-hours support across the operations directorate.
