The post holder will champion co-production, involvement and engagement. We believe that the best health services are the ones that are planned, delivered and reviewed by patients/service users and staff working together. People with lived experience of health services understand what works well and what does not, so we want to make sure patients/service users and carers have a key role in supporting us improve our services

The post holder will provide information and signposting to enable the involvement of service users and carers who are engaged in services with AWP. They will develop service user and carer involvement opportunities, groups and support those getting involved to be able to provide meaningful feedback.

They will consolidate and develop information received from service users and carers and provide this in a way that will assist colleagues in the development of service user and carer informed services.

They will, along with the wider team, ensure that involvement and coproduction is embedded across all parts of the Trust geography, across and between the different service areas. The post holder will work in partnership with the Locality Involvement Coordinators to develop meaningful involvement and coproduction in key areas of service delivery and Trust Strategy.

The will be instrumental in assisting services to use feedback given by service users and carers, for example from surveys, friends and family tests and complaints or PALS.

Education and Qualification
Essential criteria
  • • Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience (to be decided at interview).


Desirable criteria
  • project management training
  • quality improvement training


Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • Working knowledge of the range of mental health user involvement perspectives
  • A developed knowledge of NHS and public sector Mental Health services
  • Participation skills that can engage a diverse range of people
  • Experience of co-production working, including developing & delivering training
  • • Partnership working and able to form pro-active working relationships with a wide range of people, service users and practitioners whilst also being able to challenge poor practice constructively


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working on projects and/or project management
  • Experience of working with the voluntary sector and independent networks


Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
  • Good organisational and co-ordinating skills - including organising and running meetings, events and workshops
  • Good IT skills (word processing, presentations, databases) and strong administration skills (experience of writing reports, newsletters, guidelines & protocols that others must use)
  • Experience of presenting information to a diverse audience in an accessible way.
  • Able to set boundaries, negotiate & mediate as well as manage conflict with others
  • Ability to work in an inclusive and flexible way with service and carers who are traditionally excluded
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (telephone, written, verbal, as well as awareness of non-verbal communication skills)

  • Ability to travel across trust sites
