Job Description

Main duties of the job

The role is to provide support and give time to an allocated group or individual, thus promoting their recovery and assisting them to access their community environment. This will involve working with individuals supporting them to achieve goals that they have identified as important for their recovery.

The Support Time and Recovery workers work closely with the Nursing Team and Occupational Therapy team to plan and co-ordinate a programme of therapeutic activities both on and off the ward. You will involve other staff and service users in facilitating and co-facilitating these activities in accordance with best practice.

The successful applicants must be excellent communicators and motivators, know how to use time effectively, be empathetic, compassionate. The applicants must be use their own initiative and work creatively to engage with others.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In your role as STR Worker, you will be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team focused on recovery that is designed to support service users in many aspects of their lives.

Your responsibilities as an STR Worker include the promotion of recovery, helping service users to engage with their care plan, and providing support with daily living so that service users' needs are met. We are looking for a person who can also continue with the development of therapeutic activity activities within our in-patient setting.

As an STR Worker you will be required to maintain up-to-date and accurate records, and to work within a context where issues of confidentiality and risk management are paramount. Experience of working with people with mental health problems is essential.

Education / qualifcations
Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent GCSE's or willing to work towards one


Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent


Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in acute mental health
  • Experience of working with service users with risk related behaviours


Desirable criteria
  • Have experience of working in a mental health setting


Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • Good understanding of mental health
