Job Description

Clinical Nurse Manager - RMN - Independent Mental Health Hospital

£45000 per annum

Full Time – Permanent  

Fareham

Overview

This is both a leadership and clinical role and you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a high quality service within the hospital, develop excellent and professional patient centred care within the service and taking part in the development and implementation of policies to ensure the efficient and effective management of the hospital. As well as extensive experience you should hold a specialist post-registration qualification in mental health. You must be able to combine hands on service delivery and management skills whilst contributing to service development. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and manage a clinical team.  

Responsibilities

You will provide effective leadership and management to staff which promotes high performance standards both individually and as a team, in the achievement of the company’s objectives and priorities.  

-To act up in the absence of the registered manager as requested  

-To ensure compliance with CQC regulations  

-To act as a role model to the MDT and Nursing staff  

-To lead on MDT meetings for both wards  

-Management and auditing of all care documentation  

-Provide, lead, and support clinical assessments for new referrals and for current service users which help plan and deliver effective, evidence-based treatment  

-Complete annual appraisals and regular supervision for all staff which reflect these priorities  

-Provide opportunity for two-way feedback  

-To participate in the “managers on call rota”  

-To ensure that all nursing staff within the hospital are aware of their responsibilities towards service users which involves trained staff giving and receiving reports at the commencement and termination of each shift and ensuring that accurate reporting is maintained  

-To lead on medication management which will include ordering, checking, chasing outstanding medication that is not on prescription and liaising with GPs and Ashtons Pharmacy and updating shared care agreements for service users  

-To be involved with the interviewing and induction of staff who come to work in the hospital. To ensure that all new staff have a supervisor whilst undergoing their induction to monitor their development and to support on a continuing basis and to assist in the provision of in house training to staff in order to improve and consolidate knowledge and understanding  

-To review the training needs of all staff within the hospital and work with Registered Manager and members of the MDT and the organisation’s training lead on arrangements to meet the individuals identified needs

Requirements

-Proven experience of working within a mental health team as a Band 6

-Management qualification or relevant experience  

-Experience of the recruitment and retention process  

-Experience of inter professional working  

-Experience of leading a team of staff  

-Experience of developing people and teams through supervision, support and continued professional development  

-Experience of carrying out supervision to junior staff, coordinating the care of service users and delegating tasks  

-Experience of managing time and workload effectively of self and others and be able to delegate

Interview will be conducted via MS Teams

Shift Pattern

37.5 hours per week (which will be delivered by 5 shifts per week, 2 of which will be protected time for management duties and 3 will be working and leading a nursing shift)

Location

The role is based in Fareham and is commutable from Chichester, Portsmouth, Southampton, and Winchester.
