Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Open Dialogue & Support Work

\u25cf Provide person centred, strengths based support informed by your experiential knowledge. To support service users to maintain or regain a sense of agency and autonomy throughout contact with services.


\u25cf Deliver Open Dialogue network meetings within a multi-disciplinary team.


\u25cf Participate in regular group supervision to support the team of Open Dialogue Practitioners.

\u25cf Manage a varied caseload of service users, and deliver 1-2-1 specialist support where appropriate. This may include working alongside service users in developing crisis, recovery and wellbeing plans, Advanced Decisions/Statements and personal network maps.


\u25cf Provide community navigation using knowledge of services, community networks and service user organisations and movements.


\u25cf Write accurate and accessible health care records according to Trust policy and Information Governance requirements.


\u25cf To have responsibility for relevant safeguarding issues in relation to service users and their network, including making difficult decisions as a team adhering to the Trust's Safeguarding policy.


\u25cf Engage in self-reflective practices and commit to continued personal development.


Team Development, Training, and Organisational Work:

\u25cf Contribute to a culture that is therapeutic, productive, accessible, inclusive, flexible and responsive to service user's needs.


\u25cf Promote positive understanding, awareness and attitudes towards mental health as part of day-to-day duties


\u25cf Participate in and actively contribute to peer practitioner supervision, mandatory training and team meetings, individual and group supervision and organisational events as required.


\u25cf Ensure excellent communication and liaison with colleagues within the wider services of the Trust, being an agent for change and a champion of recovery in all interactions both within and outside the organisation.


\u25cf Be committed to professional development through independent learning.

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria

  • Open Dialogue Foundation Training
  • previous experience of working in with adult mental health
  • lived experience of mental health difficulties

Desirable criteria
  • secondary care mental health work experience


ExperienceEssential criteria
  • lived experience of mental distress
